About your Instructor

Mr. Christopher Camm

This is my 17th year as a Science Instructor. This is my 9th year at Carey. I spent the previous 8 years working for the Toledo Catholic Diocese: 2 years at St. Wendelin in Fostoria, OH, where I also conducted my college student teaching, and then 6 years with Calvert in Tiffin, OH.

I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2010 with two Bachelor of Science degrees:

Biology
Adolescent and Young Adult Education 7-12, with certifications in Life & Earth Sciences.

Since arriving at Carey in 2018, I have also added an AYA Integrated certification to my permanent Ohio Science Teaching License, as it was necessary to continue to instruct a host of varied and challenging courses in the public system.

I have lived near the Carey school district, in Mount Blanchard, Ohio, with my wife Megan since 2013. We are now joined by our two sons, Johnathan and Owen, and I am thankful to be part of the Carey Blue Devil family. We feel truly blessed to be so warmly welcomed by the Carey community and have the opportunity to work with so many kind, intelligent, and talented young people.

Instructional Philosophy

My ardent belief is that quality instruction should be universal by design, intellectually challenging, and connected to authentic purpose. I strive to provide students with multiple ways to encounter, understand, investigate, and apply important ideas by blending traditional lecture and discussion with demonstrations, directed research, laboratory investigation, authentic hands-on experiences, technology, and independent exploration. Whenever appropriate, students work with tools, equipment, materials, technologies, and processes used beyond the classroom so that science becomes more than information to memorize; it becomes a practical means of investigating, measuring, creating, troubleshooting, and understanding the world around us. Knowledge is essential, but knowing something is only the beginning. My goal is for students to understand not only WHAT we know, but HOW we know it, WHY it works, and ultimately what they can do with what they have learned.
