Blue Devil Designs is a class at Carey High School, where students have the opportunity to bring their creativity to life by designing custom products such as shirts, magnets, and cups. The class was founded by Mr. Dennis Ruhe and Ms. Amanda Hord, who have created an environment where we learn not just about design, but about the entire process of creating products. From the very beginning, we're involved in every step: brainstorming concepts, creating designs, and choosing materials. It's an amazing opportunity to turn our ideas into tangible items that can be sold to the school community, whether it's for a fundraiser, a special event, or just school spirit.
One of the unique aspects of this class is that we do everything ourselves. It's not just about making designs; we also handle the production process. This means we get hands-on experience with things like printing the shirts, heat pressing, and assembling the final products. It's a full circle experience that helps us learn about the technical side of design and production. Whether we're designing a shirt for a sports team, creating a promotional magnet, or working on custom cups for a school event, we get to see our work go from an idea to a real product. There's a lot of pride in knowing we were part of every step of the process.
In addition to the design and production work, we also manage the business side of things, such as advertising and packaging. We create flyers and social media posts to promote the items, ensuring that our products reach the right audience. Packaging the items for delivery or sale is another important task, where we make sure everything looks professional and appealing. Through this class, we not only build skills in design and creativity but also gain valuable experience in marketing, teamwork, and project management. It's a rewarding experience that prepares us for both future careers and creative pursuits beyond high school.
