My distinctive career history contains themes of developing and delivering creative and successful career development programs for diverse clients, including elite athletes, Aboriginal and multicultural people and students; building rapport with clients quickly to provide support in framing and achieving development goals; and high level knowledge of the Australian Blueprint for Career Development and the associated career management competencies.
From 2015 to 2023 I worked at the Fremantle Dockers Football Club as Player Development Manager. My work there was instrumental in developing Individual Development Action Plans to assist AFL athletes develop a non-sport identity. This improved their on-field performance and influenced more successful transitions out of sport. I was consistently highly rated by players for supporting them in theory and practice, and by the AFLPA for 90-100% of players having a current written / documented plan regarding off-field development.
I successfully transitioned into this role after completing a Master of Career Development at Edith Cowan University. My work included a research thesis titled 'Factors affecting professional athlete transitions – barriers to, and challenges associated with, making successful post-sport career transitions.'
In 2023 I worked as a Career Development Consultant at Curtin University, WA, assisting students in 1:1 career counselling sessions and designing resources to enhance student employability. I am currently working for the Department of Education as a Career Practitioner.
