Notes from Captain Gompf:
Phonics Checks and Reading Tests will typically be on Fridays.
Please practice the first grade rainbow words with your child.
Reading is crucial in first grade. Please make sure to read EVERY night with your child.
First graders need to practice and memorize addition/subtraction math facts up to 10.
By the end of the year, your child will need to be writing complete sentences (6 words or more) on a given topic to form a short paragraph.
Scholastic Book Orders are sent home monthly. The due date will be stamped on the front of the book order. This is a great and inexpensive way to encourage your child to read, build their reading skills, and develop your child into a super reader! You may send a check made out to Scholastic Book Clubs to school along with your order form or you may order online at https://clubs.scholastic.com/. Our class code is: NT2FL
