Who?
All Bands, Choir, & Orchestra Students (6, 7, & 8 grade)
What is this field trip about?
A professional concert provided by the Orange County Philharmonic Society with Eileen Ivers & UnIVERSal Roots. "From Celtic jigs and Appalachian fiddles to Cajun dance tunes and New Orleans rhythms, discover how Irish immigrants shaped the sounds of America." It is fun, historical, informational and musical and will also address English and History standards. The concert is provided by the Orange County Philharmonic Society.
The concert is called Sounds Around the Globe
What do the students need to do to prepare for this concert?
The students need to turn in their completed permission slips in on time (due no later than March 13th) & wear this year's music t-shirt too.
What do the students need to wear?
The students should wear their 25-26 music t-shirt with Blue Jean Pants/Skirts/Shorts with Tennis/Gym/Skater Shoes. Students may bring jackets and/or umbrellas if needed. Students not wearing their music T-shirt will remain at school. If you need another shirt, bring in $10 any day before we leave on the trip for a new one. This is the same shirt we wear on all of our field trips.
What about Chaperones?
We will need 1 adult for every 10 students attending (parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles) willing to keep an extra eye on things and to walk with us to the NPM Center and down to lunch and back. Official Chaperones will be chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis when permission slips are given to the students approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the planned trip. We will give more details closer to the event. Chaperones also must be an annually Tier II or Tier 1 Volunteers. To be a Tier II (easier clearance), please fill out this form every year and select Newhart (https://form.jotform.com/caljohnson/volunteer). If you volunteered many years back, you should still be in our system as a Tier I or Tier II volunteer but you may still need to fill out that form and include Newhart as a school you would like to participate at. Thank you in advance!
What do we need to prepare for lunch?
Students will need to bring lunch money or a sack lunch. Students will be eating lunch at the Shops at Mission Viejo mall food court. Usually students eat for about $9-10 dollars. Please don't bring too much money. They will need to stay in the food court and may not walk around the mall.
