THese are the timed note name tests we take in Band & Orchestra. Besides printed MMM, you can also use the flash cards Mrs. Petty gave you in the first week or practice the flash card websites.

MMM REQUIREMENTS

Maximum time allotted to pass with all 60 notes correctly identified:

• • Intermediate in 3 minutes

  • Advanced in 2.5 minutes

  • Ensemble in 2 minutes

2nd QUARTER

• ALL STUDENTS - No sharps or flats

3rd QUARTER 

Band = written pitch, not concert

• • Intermediate Band - Key of C & Bb = 2 flats

  • Intermediate Orch. - Key of C & G = 1 sharp

  • Advanced Band/Wind Ens. - Key of C, Bb and Eb = up to 2 flats

  • Advanced Orch./String Ens. - Key of C, G & D = up to 2 sharps

4th QUARTER

Band = written pitch, not concert

• Intermediate Band - Key of C, Bb and Eb = up to 2 flats

• Intermediate Orch. - Key of C, G & D = up to 2 sharps

ALL STUDENTS can start the next quarter's test early, if they have passed their previous one.

MAD MUSIC MINUTE ~ Make Your Own!

Go to www.secondrunnerup.com/mmm2/ to make your own but look at these instructiosn.

• Choose your clef (Treble, Alto or Bass)

• Choose your range (ranges listed below)

• Click on "Row" near the top right

• Click on each row, left column, to generate the quantity of questions (I recommend that you click them all) The "0" for flats and sharp will already be chosen. If you want to practice with 1 or 2 sharps or flats, then click those as well.

• Title your assignment with your instrument and the works practice like this "Trumpet Practice" or "Viola Practice." Findn the title sheet on the bottom left side of the page.

• Then click "Generate Worksheet" under the title box.

• You can print or trash that one and try again. Make as many as you need. When you trash it, it comes back as a different version.
