The following websites are organized according to topic. You can peruse the websites for any information that you'd like to share with families during information sessions or family workshops. Some websites also include printed materials in multiple languages that you could distribute to families.
Refugee Resettlement and Newcomer Orientation

BRYCS (Bridging Refugee Youth and Children's Services): https://brycs.org/
For practitioners, BRYCS includes a bank of promising practices to engage refugee and newcomer families and youth. There is also a clearinghouse of resources that can be accessed. The clearinghouse includes guides such as "Raising Teens in a New Country" and "Raising Young Children in a New Country: Supporting Early Learning and Healthy Development". There is also a component of the website, "Refugee Portal" that can be shared with families in multiple languages.

The USA Hello website explores topics such as health, education, work, and immigration. Available in ten different languages, the website is intended to assist newcomer and refugee families in transition to life in the US. There are portions of the website designed specifically for Ukrainian and Afghanistani refugees. Families can also check out the classroom side of the website for content to prepare for Citizenship and GED tests.

Switchboard is intended to be a hub of information for Refugee and Resettlement Service Providers in the US. The site provides resources, research, and ongoing learning opportunities in the form of webinars and newsletters. For practitioners in the field of education, the resources related to "Child and Family Services" may be of interest. In addition, providers can search for resources to share with families by topic and by language under the "Resources" tab.
Websites for At Home Learning

The Colorin Colorado website is available in both Spanish and English. On the site, you will find multiple articles and resources for educators on fostering belonging for both multilingual students and families. There are also booklists for ideas on incorporating literature from various perspectives. The thumbnail at the top "For Families" includes information for families related to fostering learning at home. Check out the portion "Resource Library" for multilingual tip sheets that can be shared with families. Note that the tip sheets include languages other than Spanish.

Reading Rockets includes information for families as to how they can foster reading and writing skills at home. Check out the one page infographic on reading tips available in multiple languages.
PBS Kids for Parents: https://www.pbs.org/parents
The PBS website for families includes information related to upcoming programming. There are also activities that families can do at home to foster literacy, math, and content area knowledge. The website can be accessed in English and Spanish. However, if families have the Google Translate or Microsoft Translate extention on their browser, the website can be translated by using the right click and then "translate to (language)" button.
Resource Guides on Multilingual Family Engagement

The Family Toolkit by the NCELA is a resource intended to assist families in accessing educational services that meet their child's needs. The toolkit provides six different chapters revolving around orienting families to the U.S. education system. Toolkit materials are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, and Spanish. Family outreach materials are also available to download on the website.

The Multilingual Learning Toolkit contains evidence based strategies and resources that educators can use to foster family engagement. The "Resource Walk" will give you activities that can be used in professional learning for staff. Some resources are available in multiple languages. Many could be used in the development of learning workshops for families.

Chapter 5 of the Newcomer Toolkit is entitled "Establishing Partnerships with Families" includes information specific to family engagement for newcomer families. It presents the Dual Capacity Building Framework as a means to build strong family-school partnerships. Also included in the chapter are topics to empower newcomer families to engage with school.

The Carnegie Corporation has published a report entitled "Becoming an Ally: Partnering with Immigrant Families to Promote Student Success." The toolkit from TESOL gives some concrete, practical ways that schools can increase family engagement and partner with families. The guide contains steps that schools can take to replicate the practices listed. Also contained in this toolkit are resources where schools can find materials for creating partnerships with families.

The Global Family Research Project advocates for community systems working together to foster learning at home. There are resources and research articles on the website that are geared toward schools, libraries, and other places of learning.
