Welcome to Mrs. Beveridge's Site

Hello! This website was developed as a resource for parents of children enrolled in CAIU remedial reading and/or math classes at St. Joan of Arc School.

School Closure Activities

These are not required activities, but if you are looking for ways to keep the learning progressing during days out of the building, you may wish to try these.

To earn stickers for your sticker chart, please bring to school any of the activities that you completed. Parents may wish to write a note if the activity cannot be brought to school.

Math Students

  • Grades 1-4 math students have access to ixl Math. You may login to your account to practice math skills that you are learning in classroom math. I sent login information earlier this year. If you don't have login information for your child, or your child forgot his/her login information, please email me.

Other ideas:

***Measure objects around your house. Write down what you measured and bring your measurements to school. Older students should convert measurements to bigger/smaller units. Bring your calculations to school.

***Look at the clock when you start playing a game and then look at the clock when you finish the game. What is the elapsed time (How long were you playing the game?) Older students: Convert minutes to hours (decimal values are fine) or hours to minutes. Bring your calculations to school.

***Practice math flashcards for ten minutes.

***Older students…Make up double-digit multiplication/division problems. Calculate the answers and then check your work with a calculator. Bring your math problems to school.

***Design your own math activity and bring it to school (or write about it).

Reading Students

  • My reading students in grades K-6 have access to Kids A-Z where they can choose leveled books to enjoy. Students may choose to record their reading, take a quiz, and earn stars to accessorize an avatar. If you don't have your child's login information, please email me.

  • Storyline Online--Actors and famous storytellers read books aloud to your child. Each book is also accompanied by an educational activity to extend learning.

  • Other ideas:

Follow a written recipe to make a yummy treat. Bring a picture of you making the treat.

Follow written directions to make a craft. Bring a picture of you making the craft.

Read for 20 minutes to another person, pet, or stuffed animal. Write down who you read to, the name of your book, the author of the book, and a couple of sentences about the book.

Read silently for twenty minutes. Write down the name of the book, the author, and a few sentences about the book.

Write a short story and read it to another person. Bring your short story to school.

Retell a TV show/movie to your parent. Make sure to include characters, setting, problem, events (beginning, middle, end) and the solution to the problem. Write a couple of sentences telling me about the show you watched. Don't forget to include the title of the show.
