Community Engagement
Statement of Policy
Community engagement allows our students to reflect on the difference they are capable of making locally, regionally, and in some cases, globally. Students involved in community engagement often find themselves gaining greater understanding of their impact within our community, while also envisioning how their work contributes towards a greater good beyond self. Community engagement is an intentional shift within our school to broaden our students interactions outside of school walls.
Requirements
Cape Fear Academy views community engagement as an integral part of becoming an active and productive member of society. Every student of CFA is required to earn 4 units of Community Engagement per semester and examples of this might be; attending a religious service outside of that students faith tradition; attending a city council meeting; attending a school board meeting; participating in a community service activity; attending a local play, musical, or theatrical performance, etc.,. In order to earn credit for each unit, the student must fill out a short summative reflection and return the completed reflection to their advisor. Form
