Collecting fresh seaweed at a local cove!
Ocean's Garden was an idea that sprouted freshman year of high school. My class wanted to start a seaweed farm just off the coast of Cape Elizabeth. At the end of the first semester, and all of the second semester we researched, and talked with local farmers and businesses, in the end, we realized that having a kelp farm in our town that was connected to the school, would not work. One of the teachers suggested using the seaweed we found on the beach. We questioned her methods but after a bit of research, we realized that there was lots we could do with it. But then the semester ended, the seniors graduated and summer rolled around. Fast forward to sophomore year, I spent all of September researching, desperate to figure out what the ultimate seaweed recipe is. I set forth into plant testing trials, and now I am currently waiting to see where I can put it in stores.
