About Me

Allow me to briefly introduce myself. I have just finished my fifth year teaching social studies at Cape Elizabeth High School, but I have been teaching social studies in the high school setting for nearly a quarter century now (24 years). Prior to Cape, I taught three years at Bonny Eagle High School, and worked at Greenville High School in Southern Illinois, teaching United States History, Advanced Placement U.S. History, Modern European History, and World Geography.

I attended the University of Missouri (Columbia), where I earned my bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in social studies. I also earned minors in history and geography. I went on to earn my master's degree from Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville) in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in secondary social studies, specializing in Native American history.

I have coached basketball, track and field, and varsity boys and girls soccer, resigning as the varsity girls assistant coach at Greely High School a couple years ago, to become the junior varsity coach here at Cape. That said, I have just shifted to the cross country team, after coaching soccer for 25 years! My wife and I live here in Cape Elizabeth and have two girls; Emma is 17 and is a motivated learner preparing for her senior year, while Addison is 16 and is excited about moving into the 10th grade. You also may know my wife, Jill, who serves as the school nurse at Cape Elizabeth Middle School. I grew up north of Chicago (Mundelein, Illinois), but most of my family make their home in St. Louis Missouri. When not teaching or coaching, I enjoy hiking, jogging, going to the beach, traveling, and exploring the many outdoor opportunities the great state of Maine has to offer!
