HI! I am so glad you are here. We are going to have the BEST YEAR YET!! 3rd grade is such a rewarding year of education! It is fun AND challenging. My favorite part about teaching my 3rd graders is seeing their faces light up when they reach a goal! My goal as your teacher is to cheer you on to find your passions and purpose! At Reeves-Hinger we value people above all else, which helps us to create a school and classroom culture that bonds us so deeply! Also, I have a bachelors in Education for grades EC-6th! This will be my 6th year teaching in CISD!

At Reeves-Hinger and in our class, we focus on GROWTH MINDSET and Positive Self Talk. Our goal is to create a positive self narrative so that we can achieve at our highest potential! This classroom culture is supported through our District Social Emotional Learning curriculum we use in our morning meeting and sharing time, as well as our campus pillars. My goal as your child's teacher is to help them grow in this area of their education using growth mindset phrases, challenges, and victories to help them accomplish their goals in social structure, academic arenas, and much more!

We use brain break dances and brain game exercises to rejuvenate our mind.

Digital Learning Resources

We use several digital resources for learning, here are just a few your child could be using to in different academic areas!

Google Classroom

Our students use google classroom as a sort of portfolio or collection of any digital activity or assignment for all subjects. They can can work on it on the website and turn it into me, there as well. It also houses any important app or research links.

MyPath

NWEA is our district system for progress monitoring through out the year. Our students take 3 benchmark assessments to pinpoint at what level they are operating in both Math and Reading! From these findings the program creates and individualized plans in both subjects that are aligned with our Texas Standards. We also use a branch of this program to track our students growth in our TIERED system., called MAP SKILLS.

Multiplication Room

In 3rd grade we are bolstering our math fact fluency. This means practicing and learning new facts in the operations of Multiplication and Division. A big goal for us in 3rd grade is knowing these facts well so that we can critically think through word problems! We also use an incentive program at the end of the year where they can earn a candy, soda, popcorn, and a movie! We keep track of our facts with our Ninja belts!

MTSS

In our schedule we build in one hour for MTSS. MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This time is included in our schedule for students to practice and work on targeted skills as well as teacher/interventionist led small group instruction. Students enjoy this time to work on skills that they need while doing it interactively. In our class we use a MTSS Must Do, May Do choice board. Click the picture to view an example. This must do, may do menu can hold targeted practice apps such as our NWEA PathBlazer, Reflex, Freckle, Epic Library, and so much more. There are tasks students MUST DO, and tasks students may pick from.
