Why I Teach:

I teach because I want to do my part to help every child realize that they have the power to learn anything.  Knowledge is the one thing no one can take away from you and your mind is your most powerful tool.  Each child has boundless potential and it's my job as a teacher to help them understand that.  Once they realize that, they can become positive change-makers in the world.

We strive for math classrooms in which every student sees themselves as and is acknowledged as a doer of mathematics who applies critical thinking skills to real-world situations, and in which teachers honor the lived experiences of each student.  We believe in every student’s right, responsibility, and access to exploring math through high-level math tasks.  Every student will develop a deep mathematical understanding through engagement in high-level math tasks during which the teacher invites student voice, and facilitates productive struggle, collaborative work, and rich math discussions.
