Welcome to Canton Preschool! We are so excited to begin learning, playing, and discovering together! Preschool is an important time to learn vital academic readiness skills from the letter and number recognition to rote and one-to-one correspondence counting. But this is also an important time to develop self help skills, social skills and interactive play with peers. We will be accomplishing all this through circle time, free play time, center work, and group activities.
A typical day in preschool will include:
Sign-in
Free play
Circle time/story
Group time (academic and play-based)
Specials
Snack
Group activity or outside time
a full size backpack with your child
a healthy snack and drink (if you send in a water bottle or lunch box, I would suggest writing your child's name on it)
2 sets of extra clothes in a labeled Ziploc ( underwear, socks, shirt, and pants)
I grew up in Canton and continue to live here with my husband, our three daughters and our two dogs,Toby and Louie. I love our sweet little town. After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, I taught kindergarten in Hartford for 7 years. I took some time to be home with my daughters. When I returned to teaching, I taught at a local preschool for 5 years. I worked as a para educator at Cherry Brook before returning to the classroom. I am so excited to be part of the Preschool Team!
