The Hour of Code is an extension of a global initiative called Computer Science Education Week, held during the first week of December each year. Through this outreach, we seek to provide all students with an introduction to the skills and abilities which are used to create the devices and media we work with each day. We have prepared connections to a series of activities below. We invite you to choose the activity below based on your experience level with programming and coding.
Beyond the Hour of Code, a section below, provides additional options for you to continue your work and learning in programming. This year, we have added a section recommending MOBILE CODING APPS to encourage access to computer science and programming anywhere!
Family Code Night: A fun FREE evening event for students grades K-5 and their parents.
SparkHart CT Hackathon: A two day program built to spark students creativity and build something that improves the lives of others for all youth in grades 8 through 12.
The Canton Public Schools offer several computer science and technology courses as an extension of the STEAM Program.
All CBPS and CIS students receive foundation instruction within their current media blocks, ranging from robotics, to scripting, to unplugged programming.
All Middle School students take Computer Coding with SCRATCH in grade 7 and Introduction to Robotics in grade 8.
High School students may choose between Computer Science Principles - App Design, Computer Programming, and Robotics, Digital Electronics, and Mechatronics.
