Research shows that one of the key indicators of a successful middle school experience is having a transition program. Students have a greater peace of mind by taking some of the stress out of the summer before middle school and providing the groundwork for a positive beginning of the middle school adventure!
The transition to Canton Middle School begins in the Spring. Parents and students will be invited to Canton Middle School for an evening filled with learning about the exciting opportunities that we have to offer!
Later in the Spring of the 6th grade year, Mrs. Brintle will be visiting Canton Intermediate School to meet with all the 6th graders. In an upbeat presentation, students will learn about the new and exciting learning opportunities offered at CMS to help them with the course selection process and give the students things to look forward to once they become middle schoolers. Before the end of the school year, the 6th graders will visit CMS on Moving Up Day to get a tour of the building, learn about clubs and activities they might want to get involved in, and meet with our Student Ambassadors.
Finally, students will be invited to visit Canton Middle School for 7th Grade Orientation right before the start of the school year. Students will meet with their Advisory groups, receive their schedules, learn how to open their lockers, and get a tour of the building from our Student Ambassadors. We encourage all students to attend this important event!
