Canton Intermediate School

I'm absent! What should I do?

First and foremost, if you are sick, your number one priority should be feeling better! See the Health and Safety section of this page to learn more about staying home when feeling unwell, and the protocol to follow in order to return.

We also realize that there are circumstances when you need to be home and you are feeling well enough to do some school work (were sick and are feeling better, had close contact with someone who was positive for COVID and now must quarantine, etc.). If that's the case, we want to help you so that may have a smooth transition when you come back to school. Please email your teachers and they will send you the work to complete while you are home due to COVID.

School Meals

The USDA has extended their Free Meals to Children program for all children ages 18 and younger through the end of the 2021/2022 School Year. CIS students will eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms. Students are able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch per day. Lunch will be served on the first day of school. Breakfast will be available beginning September 13, 2021.

It will no longer be necessary for you to pre-order your student’s meals. Click here to view CIS menus.

Although the cost of meals is covered through the USDA grant this year, for reporting purposes, it is very important for families to apply if they may be eligible. If your family receives SNAP benefits it is not necessary to submit an application. The application can be found here.

SchoolMessenger

School Messenger is an important communication tool; it is the primary vehicle for communications from Mrs. Coiteux. There have been many sent home in the past few weeks. If you have not been receiving these messages and you feel that you should be, please first check your SPAM folder and then please email Janet at jkochanowski@cantonschools.org.
