My name is Liz. I live in Canton with my husband, John and my two sons, Nate (9th grade) and Hunter (5rd grade). We have a chihuahua-Italian Greyhound mix named Xander. We spend most of our summers camping (in an RV, NOT a tent!) in Vermont.
This is my thirteenth year working with the Canton Public Schools. I spent two years at Cherry Brook Primary School as the 2nd and 3rd grade special education teacher. Then, I moved to Canton Intermediate School, where I served as the Enrichment Teacher part time and the K-6 SRBI Coordinator part time. I spent seven years as District SRBI Coordinator. This is my fourth year teaching 3rd grade.
Prior to coming to Canton, I worked in Suffield for four years as a special education teacher. Teaching is my second career, as I also have my associate's degree in physical therapy. I have also taught at the college level. I have been involved in Eastern Bloc Cycling Club, the CT Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children, and the CT Mensa Chapter. I have authored one paper, published in the September 2010 issue of Teaching Exceptional Children, regarding reading interventions that I used with a struggling fourth grade student called "Response to Intervention by a Child with a Severe Reading Disability."
Personal Stuff:
I love Wonder Woman and gnomes!
I love to read.
I love puzzles (jigsaw, puzzle books, etc.).
I also enjoy genealogy research or writing children's books.
