Canton Friends for the Arts
WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
The members of Canton Friends for the Arts (formerly known as Canton Parents for Music) are committed to supporting the visual, musical and dramatic arts programs at Canton Public Schools. Our volunteer group of parents and community members raise funds and promote awareness of Canton Public School's calendar of visual art, musical and theater performances. We provide funding for artists-in-residence, guest artists, equipment, events and other enrichment activities for the instruction and performance of the arts to help make the Canton Public Schools K-12 programs unique and special.
We provide volunteer support for concerts at Canton Schools
We support fundraising efforts for special trips, like the CHS band/choir trip to Orlando every 3 years
We provide funds for artists-in-residence and guest performing artists for Canton Schools
We support students who want to perform their favorite music and original compositions

New Art Display Space in Library Media Center
Curated by Jules Woo, CHS Student, the Library Media Center now hosts an entire wall devoted to special exhibits! Faculty artworks were featured in 2023, now works by students are featured the end of the year.

Canton Choral Commission Project
On Wednesday, April 17th, with generous funding from
the Canton Greater Together Community Fund, Canton School Choirs performed
the world premiere of a piece that was written for them by renowned composer,
Francisco J. Núñez, titled “Mi Alma en Color” (My Soul In Color). The ensembles
involved were the Cherry Brook Singers, CIS Concert Choir, CIS Chamber Singers,
CMS Chamber Singers, CHS Concert Choir, and CHS Chamber Singers, totalling
over 200 singers. The concert was a testament to the power of music and commitment of our community to the arts in Canton Schools.

Wow! What a show! Thank you to all the students, our celebrity judges, Rachel Antonucci, Michelle Wnuk Taylor, Canton Friends for the Arts and all the student volunteers from Tri-M, Drama Club and Student Council. Congratulations to Jessica Stifel's art classes, who opened their art show as well. Bravo to our Senior Showcase Artists!
