The Canton ISD Sports Medicine Program strives to provide our student-athletes with the highest quality of healthcare. We are committed to developing and maintaining sports medicine facilities and to staff these facilities with highly qualified and motivated personnel such as a certified athletic trainer (ATC). Certified athletic trainers are allied healthcare professionals who specialize in injury and illness prevention, injury recognition, treatment and rehabilitation services and education for every student-athlete. Should an injury or illness occur, it is our mission to recognize and refer the student-athlete to the appropriate medical care returning them to competition as quickly and safely as possible.
The sports medicine staff is also dedicated to the promotion of athletic training by staying involved in the teaching and education of student athletic training aides. It is our desire to provide as many learning opportunities as possible in an effort to prepare them for future jobs in the medical field.
