Gustavo McClain – I am a workforce development leader with a Master’s in Professional Studies focused on the Business of Cannabis and Master’s-level OSHA certifications in Construction, Hazardous Materials, and General Industry. As a vocational training expert and doctoral candidate in Educational Technology and Leadership at NJCU, I am dedicated to bridging the economic gap for underserved communities by integrating vocational training and technology within the cannabis industry.
My work centers on educating the public about the non-recreational aspects of cannabis, highlighting its role in economic development, equitable legislation, workforce training, and leadership. Passionate about empowering young Black men and women, I partner with organizations such as Grant Associates, Street Corner Resources, Lead By Example, and SoBro to dismantle barriers and create sustainable career pathways in this growing sector.
Building community means repairing the damage caused by the war on drugs by creating spaces of opportunity, support, and justice. It’s about empowering those who were unfairly targeted and opening pathways for healing, growth, and economic inclusion.
Ending the war on drugs sparks real community change—turning harm into hope and opening doors to opportunity. It empowers residents to rebuild their neighborhoods, gain access to education and jobs, and break free from cycles of incarceration and poverty. This shift fuels lasting economic growth, social justice, and a future where communities thrive on their own terms.
Community empowerment breaks the cycle of the war on drugs by turning punishment into opportunity. It fuels healing, builds economic strength, and creates pathways for those too often left behind to lead, thrive, and reclaim their futures.
