Foods classses are offered in grades 5-8. Each grade level meets during a 41/2 week rotation. Students will learn valuable skills designed to be relevant to their present day life and to be a foundation for the future. They will learn to make informed decisions about food choices. Additional and more detailed information will be presented each year in the middle school curriculum.
Students will experience hands-on, authentic learning experiences dealing with fundamentals of foods. Topics covered include food safety and sanitation, cooking methods, ingredient selections, nutrition information, food preparation skills, application of basic science principles, food art, and nutrition.
