My Mission Statement
I believe that all students can learn and succeed when they are supported with accountability, predictability, and consistency. These core values help create a structured and positive learning environment where students feel safe, confident, and ready to grow.
In our classroom, we focus on recognizing and reinforcing positive behaviors to build a culture of encouragement and respect. I strive to make joy a consistent and visible part of our daily experience, helping students feel motivated and connected to their learning.
To support this environment, I intentionally create a calm and welcoming space. With soft lighting and relaxing music, our classroom is designed to feel soothing and focused—allowing students to feel at ease while staying engaged.
Together, we work to build a community where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success.
All About Me
Hi there! I am so blessed to be part of Canfield Schools again this year. Here's a little about me and my classroom.
On a personal note, I am a coach's wife of 25 years. My husband is the Associate Head Coach at Youngstown State. We have 2 adult children (a senior and a sophomore in college) and 2 golden retrievers! We are in our 3rd year of living here in Canfield and we love it! For fun, I love sports, to do crafts, sing, and hang out with friends and family. I also enjoy attending students' games and theater productions.
Side note: I have to let you know as well that I have Celiacs and CANNOT consume any food that has wheat in it... I know kids like to bring me snacks... but I have to be super careful because it will make me really sick.
On a professional note, this is my 18th year of teaching. I graduated from Clearwater Christian College in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and this past May I graduated from YSU with my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instuction and Teacher Leadership. I am certified currently K-5 in Ohio. I have taught 5 years in a behavior needs unit, 2 years in 4th grade. 2 years in 3rd grade, 1 year in 2nd grade, and 7 years in 1st grade. Each year that I have been in a state testing grade, I have had excellent scores and performance ratings.... so please... trust the process!
As a little girl, I always dreamed of being a teacher. I am so excited that I get to continue living out my dream to help kids love school and learn in the process. My motto is to "Work hard. Play hard". I love doing hands on activities and helping kids understand that everyone can learn, but we all learn in different ways because we were all made for a different purpose.
I am always excited for a new year and this year is no different. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me so that I have a chance to inform, correct, or clarify anything that might come up. My classroom is calm and positive, but there is accountability. Let's be clear, accountability does not always mean consequence. Sometimes we have to talk through things or have hard conversations because we are learning. I focus mainly on earning things when we are caught doing the things that keep us safe, respectful, and responsible. Very few times will you hear from me, and if you do, please know that I have exhausted all efforts on my behalf. I am very active in the classroom and many times, I am more crazy than the kids are, and they love that!
I also do tutoring after or before school if there is any interest in that.
I look forward to watching your child learn and grow!
Love,
Mrs. Osborne

2026-2027 Classroom Supply List for Mrs. Osborne
Parents and Guardians,
I know the 3rd Grade team has put a list together... you are welcome to get all those things, but this is what I would request for our use this year.
Note: Please bring a SMALL pencil box... not the large one. All of the school supplies will not be stored in their desk. I will collect and we will use as needed. They have access to any supplies they might need daily. So all the supplies you are purchasing DO NOT need to fit inside the pencil box. It will hold 2 pencils, crayons, glue stick, scissors, expo marker... all other supplies will be set aside. I let them use lots of color pens and markers which is why you will see them on the "share" list.... lots of containers around the room.
You are welcome to bring items at the Open House... there will be buckets around the room for shared items, and they can leave their personal items at their desk. We will go through all of it when we start school.
For the class to share: (you do not need to put their name on items)
Expo Markers (black or color)
Ticonderoga pencils (presharpened are amazing)
pack of markers (optional)
pack of colored pencils (optional)
1 liquid glue bottle
pack of glue sticks
pack of eraser tops
pack of highlighters
Sticky Notes (any size... we use them all)
a favorite board game or card game (optional)
Black Sharpies/Color Sharpies (preferred but optional)
Paper Towels
AA or AAA batteries (optional)
Your child needs:
1 inch Notebook (any color, but has the pocket on the outside of binder)
1 set of tabs that have pockets (at least 6)
1 SMALL pencil box (bags are cute, but a little tricky)
1 Crayola water color paint pack
1 Crayola box of 24 crayons
2 packs of 3X5 cards (lined, white or colored)
3 Kleenex boxes
2 cans of Lysol spray (I have plenty of wipes for now)
1 Roll of paper towel
1 Clip board (preferrebly one that is flat)
1 SPILL-PROOF water bottle (will go home daily)
1 small spiral journal (100 sheets)
1 folder of their choice that will stay in their desk as a "working folder" (I will provide their take home folder)
