Make-up Work Policy: Make-up work is YOUR responsibility! Check the absent folder immediately upon returning from an absence. Notes will need to be copied from a classmate.
Late Work Policy: Late work will only be accepted one week after the original due date. Points will be deducted from the original point value if it is turned in late. Check the school policy if you were absent from school.
Engagement: Engaging with me, your teacher, and your classmates and classroom activities will help you be successful in this course. Depending on the day, engagement may look like taking notes, asking or answering questions, working with a group, completing an assignment, listening to others.
Plagiarism: In the Internet age we live in it has become very easy to copy and paste work and claim it as our own. This is plagiarism in its worst form. However, plagiarism actually includes anytime you take information from someone else and include it in your work without giving credit, even if you put it into your own words. Throughout this class I will teach you more about how to properly credit your sources to avoid plagiarizing. Blatant plagiarism (the copy and paste type) will result in an automatic zero on the assignment. I will also follow any policies the school has in place regarding academic dishonesty/cheating. Other forms of plagiarism will be dealt with on a case by case basis however they all will have a negative impact on your grade. I may not catch every single case of plagiarism, but I do catch many of them. Remember, I know how to use Google too!
Food Policy: Absolutely NO consumption of food or drink during class. Water is allowed.
Phone Policy: Cell phones are to remain TURNED OFF in 8th Grade Science and Physical Science. You will be asked to keep your phone away and will not be permitted to access it during class UNLESS given permission to do so for educational purposes.
Hello! My name is Mrs. Brady and I am going to be your science teacher during your 8th grade year. I am thrilled to work in the school where I grew up. I am excited to explore the world of science with you!
I attended Canfield Local Schools for my entire K-12 education. After graduating Canfield High School in 2014, I attended Miami University. In 2019 I graduated from Miami with a B.S. in Life Science/ Chemistry Education. Recently, I earned a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Youngstown State University to further enhance my teaching sills and educational experience.
I am a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and in college I was able to work with them to help members of my tribe learn more about their heritage and culture. For the past few years I have spent part of my summers educating Miami youth.
When I am not in the classroom, I love to spend time with my friends, family, two cats, Pixie and Maxine, and chocolate lab puppy, Mulberry. I enjoy watching sci-fi movies and tv shows. In addition, I have recently started to read more books related to science. One new skill that I have tried to do over the past few months is oil painting.
