For those with memory long enough, or studied in our history know that Montreal had always been a Sabbat city. Until it finally wasn't. For a brief moment, after the Sword clattered to the ground, the Tower believed it could truly secure its roots here. But it was not so easy; It never really is.
Years passed and with it, many Praxis were attempted. Would-be Prince’s currying favour in their Clans, in the Tower, trying the upper hand. Seemingly would at times for a short period, but inevitably numbers would win, or petty in-fighting would ruin whole plans. Local belief in the Movement post 9-11 was powerful and with it came a delicate sense of community and strength that the Camarilla simply could not disenfranchise.
The competing factions weren’t just the Anarchs and Camarilla. Groups of unaligned kindred had somehow swooped in between the lull of battles, and combat exhaustion to take areas.
Rumours of famine made their way to Ottawa as disillusioned dwellers would move on to more stable, plentiful settings. Those who remained… Well, we all know what hunger does to us.
This history is still being uncovered.
The turf wars of the 00’s were masked behind influence and money, as there often were in more polite times.
When the all-in Anarch war finally broke out in Montreal it was brutal. The Tower was unprepared for what their foes had waiting for them in unions, weaponry and sabotage. Less so after The Beckoning stripped locals forces bare. Elders called away from whole lineages. Those lineages were snuffed out in the aftermath by remarkably clever members of the Movement. Many Kindred died. Many mortals died too. That, and the occasional terribly timed torporing.
Masquerade Breach Deaths were concealed with the guise of gang wars that have gone on for years. The city is exhausted, but with time & the right approach; could be coaxed back into a state of calm.
Recently, Prince Piper led a group of the Founderlings through the undergrounds; fought, won and laid claim to the city of Montreal, for the Tower. Claimed it for the Nosferatu & now the streets are fresh to be claimed in HIS name. The Prince owns the sewers, and has kept you safe below, this past year. Now it is time to slowly rise, explore the city and make it our own. The rats are always watching.
