The Hands-on-Remote project
aims to support teachers in integrating hands-on experiments into various COVID-related teaching formats. The development focuses on vocational schools. However, the examples and underlying concepts can be easily transferred to other types of schools. Our goal is to develop new teaching formats with hands-on student experiments that you as teachers can use not only in face-to-face classes but also in distance (virtual) or hybrid classes. To this end, we provide you with free resources that allow you to respond flexibly to the respective COVID teaching scenarios. Furthermore, the idea is to use the developed methods to create long-term inspiration for new teaching concepts in the digital age.
Material Kits for the Students
An important aspect is that the practical student work should take place independently of the current classroom situation. To this end, students are provided with material kits with which the experiments can then be carried out at flexible locations, i.e. at home and thus in several places at the same time. Well-coordinated (virtual) support is central to learning success. The aim is to create a joint experiment situation that stimulates the motivation and interest of the students and promotes team spirit, even across spatial distance.
Free Resources...
Each partner country has developed a teaching concept on a different topic in collaboration with teachers from local vocational schools. These teaching modules will be supplemented by step-by-step instructions that will enable the concepts to be implemented independently. In addition, there is a joint guidebook that contains the underlying concepts as well as field reports and tips and tricks for implementation. It provides teachers with the necessary basic knowledge and inspiration to develop their own concepts and topics.
... in four languages
The result of the project is a set of three well-tested teaching modules on different topics in four languages each (EN, DE, PL, PT), which allow for easy and straightforward integration into the classroom. Furthermore, in response to the multiple challenges of the COVID pandemic, this project aims to offer innovative teaching solutions for practical work and at the same time improve the digital skills of teachers and students in vocational education.
