Audition Information

All fees can be paid online using the Shop button at the bottom of the page. To cover our expenses, there will be a small fee added to the online purchases.

Payments can also be made by Check or Cash, made out to CVHS Orchestra Boosters, in an envelope with the student name and item being paid for recorded on the outside, and dropped in the secure box in Mrs. Payne's office.

Tax Credit funds may NOT be used for Regionals or State events.

Regionals

The fee is normally $25 per audition. If your child has signed up to audition, their fee is due now. Please send a check or cash to the Boosters or pay online through our website.

If an ensemble is playing, the fee is assessed once per group. Students can choose how to split the fee.

There is an additional fee of $25 (approximately) that is required for participation in the Regionals Performance, if a student is invited to join.

All State

The fee is normally $30 per audition. If an ensemble is playing, the fee is assessed once per group. Students can choose how to split the fee.

Students who play in the All State Orchestra performance do not have to pay a performance fee. The Boosters cover this fee for the students as a recognition of their excellence.

Other Playing Opportunities

November 6, 2023

From Mrs. Payne

I just wanted to take a moment and pass on some extra opportunities/events within the community that some of our students may be interested in:

AZ Fiddle Fest: February 24th, 2024-You can register on the day of the festival. It's a wonderful event for those who want to get acquainted with fiddling OR who enjoy learning music by ear. More details here:  https://www.gilberttownfiddlers.com/fiddlefest.html

Fiddle Fest is for all instruments-Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass, not just Violin!  ALL LEVELS and abilities! It's a really fun experience. I will be there as well.

Another event is the Tucson Cello Congress on December 2nd. Registration for the Tucson Cello Congress is now open! The event will be held on December 2 at the University of Arizona, and this year celebrates cello ensemble music from Latin America, harnesses the power of rhythm through an interactive rhythm class, offers the chance to work with two composers who written pieces to be performed by the cello ensemble, features an inspiring session on BLUME Haiti's global work improving lives through music, showcases the young artist competition, and much more. This year's exciting guest artists include Jorge Espinoza and Janet Anthony. More information and registration here:  https://astaaz.org/event/tucson-cello-congress/

Another event is the Tucson Bass Jam:  https://astaaz.org/event/tucson-bass-jam/

If your child is interested in playing for a full rendition of The Messiah, they have that opportunity and can email Dr. Marty Province at mrphfl@gmail.com The event is hosted jointly by the First United Methodist Church of Gilbert, Gilbert Presbyterian Church, and the Gilbert Stapley Stake of the LDS Church. The orchestra has grown over the years from the upper teens into the mid 30s last year. We audition vocal soloists, including, in past years, some professional singers and members of the Phoenix Chorale. The "chorus" comprises anyone who wants to join us for the evening. Traditionally, there are 300+ singers. The performance will take place at 7:00 on Sunday, December 17 at the LDS Stake Building at 1100 N Cooper Rd in Gilbert. Weekly rehearsals begin Sunday, November 12, 4:00-6:00, with a dress rehearsal (mandatory) Saturday, December 16 at 9am.

I like to pass these on so that any of our musicians who are interested, can participate if they choose to. All of these events are optional. Of course, these orchestras and events are entirely separate from our school orchestra program and events, so parents are solely responsible for signing up and transportation to and from the event.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!
