Thank you to Rowan, our Summer Intern!
Internships at Onas provide unique career development experiences for young people across a range of interests and industries. Onas interns– most of whom are former counselors now exploring professional paths– can develop new skills while continuing to make Onas a better organization. Camp Onas works with each prospective intern to determine responsibilities, projects, compensation, and professional development opportunities that meet shared needs.
This summer, Rowan joined the Advancement and Engagement team for an internship run through the Praxis Program at Smith College. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Rowan was a camper at Onas and has worked at Camp since 2016. Before her internship, she held roles including Camp Aide, counselor, and Directors' Assistant.
Rowan is graduating from Smith College this December with bachelor's degrees in Government and Spanish. Her love of Camp and an interest in the nonprofit development profession drew her back to Onas while considering internship opportunities. While working with year-round staff members on the advancement team, she made contributions that strengthened our fundraising and community engagement efforts throughout the summer.
Rowan found the experience of working in the camp office not only joyful, but professionally enriching and personally rewarding. She loved getting to spend so much time in nature, surrounded by some of her closest friends, and absorbing all of the silliness of an Onas summer.
Rowan is now living in DC, where she is interning with Garfield Law Group. After graduation, she plans to continue working in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations.
Three big ones to Rowan, for all her amazing and hard work this summer! Thank you Rowan!
