In this activity you will learn about various forms of propaganda that the Chinese employed throughout their reign, with a bit of focus on the Cultural Revolution. As you progress through each of the forms of propaganda found in the procedures tab, you will answer a series of questions with special attention focused on the recurrent themes, visuals, or techniques employed by the propaganda piece.
After learning about the variety of types of propaganda, themes, visuals, and techniques that the CCP used, you will select a form of propaganda and create your own employing the techniques you noted throughout the investigation. You will be given a list of ideas to choose from to serve as the message of your propaganda, as well as options for the medium of presentation.
You may work in small groups of 2-3. I would suggest those students in IB Econ pair up with someone who is in IB Art. This will allow you to focus on different components of the creation part of the project - your propaganda piece and the accompanying explanation.
