This is Mrs. Embry's 16th year in education, having served as a general education teacher and school counselor for students in grades PreK-12. She is committed to delivering a comprehensive school counseling program to all students. She has earned a Rank I in Counseling, master's degree in School Counseling, and a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences/Secondary Education from Northern Kentucky University. She is a proud member of the American School Counselor Association, as well as the Kentucky School Counselor Association. In her free time, Mrs. Embry enjoys gardening, camping, and being outdoors with her husband and two dogs.
What is a School Counselor?
School counselors work with all students, school staff, families, and members of the community as an integral part of the education program. School counseling programs promote school success through a focus on academic achievement, prevention and intervention activities, advocacy, and social/emotional and career development (American School Counselor Assoc.)
What do Counselors do?
1. Provide direct counseling services to students individually and in support groups.
2. Provide education and supportive services to parents.
3. Provide consultation services to teachers.
4. Facilitate referrals to community support services.
5. Advise students on academic planning & scholarship opportunities.
6. Provide career guidance to students.
7. Network with post-secondary institutions.

Mrs. Embry will make every effort to follow the counseling guidelines contained in the American School Counselor Association Code of Ethics and standards of practice. This means she will keep the information you share with her confidential – unless you give her permission to share it, or unless she is required by law or school policy to share it.
Examples of when information must be shared:
· When you give her permission to share information.
· If she believes you are at risk of harming yourself or others.
· If she believes someone is trying to hurt you.
· If a judge orders her to provide information in court.
· When she consults with other professionals to better help you.
