Testing Tips
Do your best
The state standards have been taught for your child's grade level content. Motivation and effort will help them demonstrate everything they have learned. Please discuss the importance for giving 100% effort on the KSA.
Best effort includes:
Reading directions and every part of the question
Rereading passages to find the answer
Answering ALL parts of the question
Using specific strategies and everything learned in class: ACE, RACE, CER, CUBE, sentence starters
Pacing so they do not finish too quickly or too slowly
Staying positive, quiet, and focusing on their own work
Get a good night's sleep
Students need to be well rested and awake for their 8 am KSA assessments.
Eat healthy and stay hydrated
Encourage your child to eat a well balanced dinner and breakfast each day. Drinking water throughout the day and evening will help hydrate your child. Your child's brain will be ready!
Read and practice
IXL is a great resource to practice content related skills. Students who regularly read have extended vocabularies and knowledge of different topics.
