Mrs. White was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. She grew up attending Campbell County schools and was a graduate of Brookville High School. She attended James Madison University, where she graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and her Master's in the Art of Teaching. This is her eleventh year teaching 2nd grade and is so glad to be at Leesville Road Elementary. She began her career at Brookneal Elementary School, where she also taught second grade for 5 years. She has a son, Nash, who is in 3rd grade at LRES, 1 year old boy/girl twins, Rex & Bryant, and two step-daughters Gracie (18) and Addison (16). In her free time she loves to be outside, go to the pool, and spend time with her family! Her favorite place to be is the beach! She's wanted to be a teacher since she was little and absolutely loves and has a passion for teaching second grade.
Miss Bonner is a graduate of Ferrum College. She grew up in Campbell County and graduated from Brookville High school! She has a special place in her heart for her students. She is constantly finding creative ways to make learning fun and meaningful and her students can't help but be inspired by her energy and dedication. With five years of experience she has honed her skills in creating hands-on activities that cater to different learning styles. Beyond the classroom she cherishes her role as a mother to her one-year-old son Bentley who brings an extra dose of sweetness to her already fulfilling life
Mrs. Simmons has been teaching for 14 years. For the past 3 years, she has been here at LRES teaching 5th grade. Before coming here, she taught 2nd grade for 8 years and Kindergarten for 2 years in Bedford County. She is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Forest, VA in 2011. Mrs. Simmons has been married to her best friend, Christopher, for 22 years. He is a Lynchburg native and graduated from Heritage High School. We have 3 wonderful children and 2 amazing grandchildren. In her spare time, you will find her on the sidelines of soccer games or taking care of uniforms for the JF Marching Band. Mrs. Simmons loves reading, crocheting, and most types of music. She is so excited to be teaching here at LRES!
Miss Gonzalez was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. She moved to Virginia as she attended Liberty University. Ms. Gonzalez completed a Bachelors of Education in Elementary Education and Bachelors of Science in Law and Policy: Pre Law, as she plans to work in Family Law in her future endeavors. This is her first year of teaching second grade. Ms. Gonzalez completed her student teaching at Leesville Road Elementary School, served as a remediation teacher for grades 3-5, and served in our front office staff as Bookkeeper Secretary. In her free time, Ms. Gonzalez enjoys hiking, painting, and baking. She thoroughly enjoys spending time with family and friends and trying new things. Ms. Gonzalez is honored to serve at LRES as it has been a dream to teach and inspire young minds since her Kindergarten graduation!
Ms. Midkiff grew up in Clarksville, Virginia, on Buggs Island Lake. She came to Lynchburg when she attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College). This is her 17th year teaching, but her eighth year at Leesville Road Elementary. She previously taught 3rd grade at Perrymont Elementary. Second grade is her favorite though! Ms. Midkiff has a daughter who will turn 8 this school year. and is in 2nd grade as well She enjoys quality time with family and friends, spending time outdoors, reading, helping others, and traveling.
