Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best work, especially students in grades K-3. Students explore various powerful and intuitive tools (like draw+record, collage, video, and more!) to show what they know in the way that works best for them. Seesaw empowers students of any age to create, reflect, collaborate, and share. It allows family members to use the Seesaw app to keep up to date with their child's learning, and easily communicate between school and home. Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos, and capture learning in a portfolio. Families only see their child's work and leave comments and encouragement.
Your child's teacher will design and facilitate compelling learning experiences for your child and assign Seesaw activities. Your student will click on the Activities tab to see activities their teacher has assigned to them. To respond to an activity, your child should tap +Add Response in the Activities tab. Your child will be able to use Seesaw learning tools, and their work will be added to their journal. Your child's teacher will then provide responses and feedback on your student's work.
As a Virginia Department of Education program, Virtual Virginia (VVA) offers an extensive library of course curriculum to students. CCPS is utilizing Virtual Virginia and Canvas to deliver engaging virtual lessons that can be tailored for student growth. CCPS is offering all classes needed to meet student graduation requirements. Online courses include Advanced Placement (AP), world language, core academic, and elective courses throughout the Commonwealth and Campbell County Schools. Virtual Virginia and CCPS are committed to providing high-quality, rigorous course content with the flexibility to meet schools' and students' varied schedules. Our program strives to provide instruction that meets the individual needs of students. Virtual learning is the new frontier in today's educational institutions. The technology of the 21st century offers a unique opportunity for educators to reach students who want online courses.
Virtual learning programs must reflect the same characteristics of any effective program. Effective online programs require highly-qualified teachers, rigorous standards-based curricula, meaningful assessments, engaging instruction, continuous support, and effective administration. CCPS utilizes online learning opportunities through the online learning platforms of Seesaw and Virtual Virginia Powered by Canvas. Virtual programs offer increased opportunities, flexibility, and convenience to meet the needs of our learners. Although highly qualified CCPS teachers are facilitators of virtual learning in an online class to help ensure student success, students need to be self-motivated, so they do not fall behind. Students must be able to stay on task, meet deadlines, and ask for assistance when needed.
All of our courses are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. Per the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Accreditation, students are required to participate in SOL tests. More information concerning testing can be found at this link: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/testing/index.shtml . Schedules and other testing plans will be shared with parents and students at a later date.
