Why have I taken art for four years? That is a great question. The only answer that I have for that is… I LOVE ART! I love drawing and painting and I really like seeing what I can accomplish. I have seen myself grow and progress and I never thought that I would be where I am today with my art. Art serves as an outlet for me. It helps calm me down and gives me something to do to take my mind off of the struggles of life. I was debating continuing my art career in college and becoming an art teacher, but I have decided to pursue my love for history instead. Art will always be a hobby of mine and I think that if my history degree doesn't work out, that I will keep art as a backup option. I am going to Siena College and my roommate is absolutely AMAZING! If I didn't take art, I don't think that I would have the confidence to try new things and to be as outgoing as I have become. Mrs. Andrews has helped shape who I am today. She is so supportive and she has taught me so much more than art. She taught me to stand up for myself and to speak my mind, but most importantly she taught me to be myself. She is part of the reason that I continued taking art. Without her, my high school experience would not have been as good as it is, so thank you Mrs. Andrews for all that you have done and continue to do. I love and appreciate you more than you know.

I may not be the best artist, but after taking art for the past 4 years, I have discovered that I'm not all that bad. Mrs. Andrews has taught me how to discover my creativity, to draw what I see, and to never give up. Taking her art classes has been truly inspiring., Sheshe is always so full of life and always greets you with a smile. I’ve learned to love to unleash my creativity. In the fall, I plan to attend Nazareth College with a major in Psychology. I, I know graduating will bring in new opportunities, but I will always treasure the time I’ve spent here at Camden High.

I’ve taken art classes all four years of high school: Studio, MVCC Drawing, MVCC Color Theory, Graphic Arts, and Senior Art Portfolio. As the years progressed, I became more and more challenged and less confident in myself. I love art, I really do, it just personally takes so much energy from me that I haven’t had lately. This school year (during the pandemic) brought out new traits about myself that I don’t particularly care for. I have a horrible habit of not finishing things whether it’s a conversation, end of a relationship, or an art project. I have extremely vivid images of how I want my art to look but that isn’t always how It turns out on paper. My feelings are always very strong and I feel that that helps me create more emotional and heartfelt pieces, but it also creates an obstacle for finishing when I feel too depressed or motive-less. Most of my work from the 2020-2021 year is unfinished. I don’t have intentions as of now to finish them because I’ve moved on mentally. To finish a piece I need to be in the same headspace and I don’t want to be in the same headspace as I was when I started all those pieces. I was sick, sad, and unimpressed with myself. Sometimes those feelings create the best artwork but I hate feeling that way.

In the fall of 2021 I plan on attending SUNY Oswego but my major is undeclared for the moment. I’m trying to just get through now and worry about later, later.

I’ve always enjoyed art and thought of it as a way for me to express myself when I felt unable to. After graduation I plan on going to a cosmetology school and hopefully later on become a desairologist.

I have had the pleasure of being in the art program since elementary school. I've had a piece in the art show every year. Art has always been an interest of mine and a place to help me escape the real world. I could express myself through art. I've had amazing teachers since elementary school, who I've not only made great relationships with but they've helped me grow to love art even more. I loved being a part of the class, it was always my home in a way. I created an amazing relationship with Mrs. Andrews, I knew I could go to her for everything and anything. She was my person at school, she always knew how to put a smile on not only mine but everyone's face no matter the situation. Unfortunately my last year of high school wasn't what I dreamed of and I wasn't able to be in the art room with my closest friends and Mrs Andrews for the last time. It definitely was a rough year and I learned to never take anything for granted. I never knew that Ffriday before my birthday was going to be the last day I saw many for the last time. Overall I'm so happy and thankful for being part of ART for all of those years and will continue to use art everyday of my life. After school I'm planning on attending St. John Fisher, studying libral arts and hopes to include art in my studies. Thank you for the best years of my life.

I have been in art classes all through high school. I wished to improve my skills. Some of my favorite moments in art is when I look back at how my art looked at the beginning of each year and seeing my progress. Art class has helped me to get out of my comfort zone. After high school, I intend to continue to improve my skills and begin illustrating my own books.

Alexi Chennells

Art is by far my favorite class. I love everything about it and I always have. After graduation I plan to major in Art History and Conservation at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and minor in museum studies. Hopefully one day I will work in a museum, restoring old artwork.

Throughout my life, I have always wanted to do art. I have looked at things differently from others. My mind would always make out lines from any type of object and, make it as if it was a drawing. My inspiration came from many famous artists around the world that lead me to what I aspire to do today. That is to become an artist. I wanted to show off my art capabilities to the world. There may have been some obstacles in the way, but who hasn't had them? That is how we learn to become better. After graduation, what I have learned from my years at school will be brought up to college. My abilities that I have learned will become even more greater than it already is.

Molly Dunfield

Art has always been a part of my life and a huge passion of mine. However, I found myself more interested in learning about art rather than creating it myself. Learning about the techniques of art and the different styles. Learning about the artists themselves and why they created the pieces that they did. Learning about what a piece of art means to other people and other cultures. I began searching for ways to pursue art without actually creating it, and that is how I found art restoration. I loved the idea of restoration and conservation of art pieces. Art restorers are responsible for reviving life in the art and conserving its beauty so that it may be admired for years to come. Allowing the viewer to see the art as the artist intended for it to be viewed is a goal I strive to achieve. That is why I continued to take art classes all throughout my educational career. What I learned from each class made me realize what I wanted to study in the future and brought me closer to that goal.

I intend to study art history at SUNY Buffalo State College. However, I have also been interested in applying to graduate school at New York University in conservation and museum studies in order to become truly educated in the field of art conservation and restoration.

I have been in art classes since elementary school. I don't know why I was drawn to art so much but I loved the idea of being able to draw freely and have the emotions of your daily life revealed on a paper or canvas. Emotions are usually very hard for me to show in any situation and I guess I have always been that way, but art and photography helped me tell people how I am feeling and the art teachers I have had really helped me find my art style and helped me become less of a critic of my art. As for my future plans I'm exploring my options for college and my dream is to someday own a store for my photography and put my pictures on coffee mugs, calendars, and many more things.

Katelyn Kirk

I have participated in art over the past several years simply because I love it. I have always had a love for art ever since I was a little girl. Art has always been my favorite class to go to in school. In the art room I was able to just relax, destress and just enjoy making projects. Art has always been a space for me to just let all my worries go and be free. I will miss Mrs. Andrews and the CHS art room so much next year! I’m so happy to have had the experience I did, I will forever cherish the time and memories I had in the art room. My future plans consist of graduating high-school and then attending college. I have been accepted to my dream school Nazareth College and I will be majoring in Speech Language Pathology. I look forward to starting this new chapter of my life and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for me!

Over the years art has sufficiently shaped my life and the person that I am today. It allows me to be creative and have fun while having a place to destress. I like that all of my art courses have allowed me to push myself and continuously allowed me to grow. My courses have helped me to create a portfolio that I am proud of and to be accepted to a range of colleges. In the future I plan on continuing my love for art by obtaining my bachelor's degree in interior design and my masters in architecture.

Art has been a part of my life ever since I was a kid. Both of my parents and my sister were creative and artistically inclined. Throughout the years I’ve not only taken art classes in school, but various art workshops, lessons, and some specialty courses. For me, art is an expressive outlet. That is kind of what it's always been. My journey with my artistic abilities has been rough, but I don't intend to stop anytime soon. Some people think that I've just been gifted with talent, but the reality is that I've worked for my whole life to get where I am now. Art isn’t easy, and I still have so much to learn.

When I was younger I always loved drawing, painting, and doing crafts. Once I got to middle school I learned how to draw and do things the right way and it was exciting so of course I wanted to learn more skills once I got high school and sure enough I loved so much I followed through for 4 years. I had the privilege to learn many skills in many different forms of art. My plan when I graduate is to attend East Stroudsburg University in PA to continue my sports career in both Field hockey and Track and as of right thinking of pursuing exercise science.

sage Parker

I have taken art all the way up until my senior year in high school. After high school, I plan on attending MVCC for General Studies and hopefully find the right path for me.

Alaina Sprole

I fell in love with art and Mrs. Andrews in Kindergarten. I continued my passion for art through elementary and middle school. I then took a class each year of high-school with Mrs. Andrews, and the rest is history. I love art, and these classes have taught me both skills and life lessons. Art is a place of not just learning and creating, but making lasting memories with other classmates while creating artwork. I plan on continuing my love for art throughout college and the rest of my life. The art I create, and will continue to create is visual, not on paper. I am majoring in Dance at Nazareth College, with hopes of opening my own dance studio in the future.

Art has always been a creative outlet to submerse my ideas out in an innovative way. I took art in the previous years because my father did and I wanted to be as good as him at art. After seeing the classes and taking them I instantly fell in love with the concept of art and the class itself. After graduation I plan on going to MVCC to start my degree in Nutrition and Dietitian but then also complete my second century ride.

evan Youngs

Hi, my name is Evan Youngs, and I have taken Studio in Art, MVCC Drawing and Color Theory, and Studio in Graphics Art. I have always loved the art programs here at the high school for the wonderful creations that I’ve made and seen fellow students make, as well as the experience and skills we’ve learned with under lecture and instruction. I will be attending SUNY Oswego for Journalism, but I will not forget what I have learned at the art room, so I will definitely continue to pursue art as a hobby.
