What People Are Saying About Dawn Klavon
Over the years, I have not been one to write many recommendations. It’s because I find I can only write them for people I truly admire. Dawn is one of those people.
I met Dawn in the journalism masters program at Harvard Extension School. While everyone in the program was capable as you would expect, Dawn came to the program well ahead of many others.
Her background is in public relations and English. As a writing partner in some classes, I was able to see her work more closely. It was always clear and crisp, but it also had a freshness you don’t always see. She can certainly write straight news. But I think her gift lies in her magazine style pieces, probably because of her English background. Read some of her articles and you will see for yourself.
Beyond her writing talent, Dawn is someone people in the program gravitated to for support and guidance. We had a study group for a class in Constitutional law. While others were frazzled at times due to the material and workload, Dawn was unflappable. She was always prepared and ready to clarify the material for others in the group. She did this with grace. I see in Dawn both a leader and a supportive team member.

In the eleven years I have known Ms. Klavon and worked with her, she has consistently used her leadership abilities to make a difference in our community, particularly as a communicator. She is a gifted coordinator, organized, solution-focused, and skilled at establishing superb public relations. She is a life-long learner whose ability to see the “big picture” informs the wise decisions for which she is known. Morale is high in those who work around her, and it is her influence and leadership which set the tone. Most importantly she is an effective communicator, whose collegiality, collaboration, focus, tenacity, and attention to detail lead to strong teams and great success. In addition to all of that, she’s fun to be around.

A top-notch writer, Dawn is the type of person who makes a team work better, but gives the credit to others (even though she deserves it herself!)

Enthusiastic, professional, and organized, Dawn is a credit to any position she fills.
Above all, Dawn is a gifted communications professional, Harvard educated journalist, author, producer, and media director. She is forthright and fair, discreet, motivational, and supremely knowledgeable in how to encourage the best performance from her team. Her magnificent interpersonal skills extend to every level of an organization. She is bright, dedicated, and self-directed, quickly understanding and matching a company’s ethos and mission.
Dawn and I met while on the same production team in San Jose, California. Her skills are so impressive that I often sought her advice to motivate our production team. She is always generous, insightful, enthusiastic, and creative. I am a better professional/person for having her guidance.
