I have been a part of the teaching staff of Bagby Elementary School since 2013, and I have been a teacher since 2006. My years of teaching have spanned many grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. I received my teaching credential and MA in Elementary Education from UC Berkeley, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I also have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to teaching, I spent several years in high tech, developing web applications while working for Accenture, HP, and a Silicon Valley start up. As a result, I have a passion for integrating technology in the classroom, especially through the use of online applications and digital storytelling. I am also a Google Certified Educator (which basically just means that I love using Google tools to make learning fun and classroom management more efficient).
On a more personal note, I have a ten year old son named Lucas, as well as two adult stepchildren. My husband Jack is also an educator. In our free time, we enjoy hiking, running, playing board games, watching sports, trying new restaurants, skiing in Lake Tahoe, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. As a first generation Chinese American, I can speak Mandarin Chinese. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, and so talking about deep dish pizza is also one of my favorite pastimes.
I'm Shannon Righetti. I will be Ms. Ma's student teacher this year! Some of your children may already know me. I worked as an RSP Aide alongside Ms. Mistry last school year. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from Azusa Pacific University, and I am currently pursuing my teaching credential.
I was born and raised right here in San Jose. Before entering the classroom, my career centered on connection and storytelling. I started at NBC Sports Bay Area, transitioned into tech recruiting at Facebook, and then founded and ran my own photography business for ten years. My love for working with kids eventually drew me to substitute teaching, where I found my true calling in education.
In addition to my passion for teaching, athletics have played a huge role in my life. I played Division I and Division II soccer at San Jose State University and Azusa Pacific University, where I was honored as a D2 All-American. I have coached soccer for many years, and I look forward to bringing the same spirit of teamwork, growth, and perseverance into the classroom.
My husband and I have two children who attend Bagby Elementary. In my free time, you can usually find me cheering on our Bay Area sports teams, traveling, playing pickleball, watercolor painting, eating sushi, or enjoying quality time with my family.
