Artificial Intellegence - Learner Guidelines

This guide introduces you to using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools effectively and responsibly during your time at college. It explains what AI is, how it is used in education and the workplace, and how Coleg Cambria supports safe use through tools like Google Gemini.

The guide covers:

What AI can do – such as improving writing, summarising notes, creating quizzes, organising study time, and generating ideas.

Limitations and risks – including false or biased information, lack of citations, and copyright concerns.

Responsible use – rules around not using AI to complete assessments, protecting personal data, and checking tutor guidance on what’s acceptable.

Evaluating AI outputs – how to fact-check information and apply the CRAAP test (Currency, Relevance, Accuracy, Authority, Purpose).

Prompting tips – how to write effective prompts for better responses.

Academic integrity – why AI misuse is plagiarism, and how to reference AI correctly if you use it in your work.
