Future Business Leaders of America

Clara Wendt and Emma Braaksma attended FBLA State Leadership Conference in Green Bay on April 7-9. They competed in Hospitality and Event Management and made it to the finals, however didn't get the chance to show off their talents at Nationals this year. Maybe next year!

October 2023:

Donations are piling  up. We have begun a class shoe war and I am keeping track of individuals who contribute!

Please bring your gently use shoes and boots to the HS office for preparation.  Put your name and grade on them to receive credit. Our goal is 4000 pounds........we have a lot to go!  CLEAN OUT THOSE CLOSETS!!

Cambria, WI 2023 – Cambria-Friesland’s Future Business Leaders of America is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser in October-December to raise funds for leadership conferences registration and travel fees. CF FBLA will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit student registration fees and travel expenses to and from conferences. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at the Cambria-Friesland High School, Jane Morgan Memorial library in Cambria, Vibe Salon in Portage, Riley’s Bar & Grill in Portage, or the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce. You may also call 920-348-5548 x116 for pickup.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send her son to law school.

"We are excited about our shoe drive," said Lorri Arnce, Adviser of FBLA in Cambria. "We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for the  students’ benefit and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It's a win-win for everyone.”

By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to the Cambria-Friesland FBLA, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives around the world.

2020 Regionals & Nationals

2020 was not a great year for FBLA from a competition standpoint. Though 5 members qualified for State, the leadership conference was cancelled due to Covid-19. Those 5 were Katie Clark in Access Database, Alexis Johnson in Spreadsheet Applications, Camber Ebert in Inpromptu Speaking , Spencer Wiersma and Jerardo Olivo in Social Media Campaign. Katie Clark was able to compete in virtual National Leadership in Access Database and Alexis opted to complete in Business Communications. I applaud all the members for sticking it out through a very tough year. Let's hope 2020-21 is better for everyone. #togetherwewin

The 2020 Regional FBLA Leadership participants shown here. This event was held in Waterloo, WI February 2, 2020.

This group of members left on a snowy November Sunday night to head to Stevens Point for the Wisconsin Fall Leadership Lab. For two days everyone attended workshops and seminars on competition, business labs, leadership development and attended general meetings with Keynote speakers for motivation and leadership guidance. Kudos to these young men for taking their future into their own hands.

Random pictures of this years Fall Leadership Lab in Appleton, Wisconsin October 10, 2018.  Students learned about leadership, team-building, and the FBLA process during three sessions during the day.  We celebrated with Culver's following before the long ride home.  A great time was had by all.

In April 2018, FBLA State qualifiers traveled to LaCrosse, WI to compete at the State Leadership conference.

Joshua Fischer and Hanna Raley then qualified after competitions for two days for National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, MD at the end of June.

Congratulations!

Look out San Antonio!  Here we come!
