In Class Expectations
In class work might include an entry math task, group work, note taking, class activities, math assignment practice, and participation in class discussions. It is important for students to come to class ready to contribute to our math community. The majority of the time there will be no homework.
Assessments
Quizzes will be given most Fridays on review concepts from our entry tasks. Entry tasks are done daily, and are a collection of review questions from previous learning. Quizzes cannot be retaken so it is important that students are feeling confident in the entry task practice. The two lowest quiz scores will be dropped at the end of each trimester.
Unit tests will be given at the end of every chapter. Students who are not pleased with a test result will have an additional chance to show understanding of a topic and receive full credit. It will be in the form of a retake or test corrections.
Late Work
I understand 6th graders are in the process of learning different routines and expectations. If a student is getting behind on class work, it is important that they see me, so we can get a plan in place to get back on track. Please check in with me between 7:45 and 7:55.
Skyward
Scores will be entered into Skyward and parents are encouraged to check Skyward often to monitor their child’s success.
