All of these materials are available to students for single day checkout, and staff for longer periods of time. None of the equipment should go home with students. Students, be sure to monitor your time at the end of the day and return equipment you borrowed before leaving school. If you need more time with small items like tripods and microphones, we can keep them on hold for the following day. Larger items like Green Screen Kits and Lighting, can be checked out under a teacher’s name so time isn’t wasted with setup up and tear down. If supplies on the list above are needed and unavailable, we are more than happy to help develop a plan for multiple users to use them throughout the day.
Because they are being checked out, the user is also assuming financial responsibility for the safe return of the equipment. When students and staff check out these tools, we take a few minutes to do a quick tutorial to help the user learn how to properly use and maintain the equipment. We also review the equipment for damage and missing components. When the equipment is returned, it is reviewed a second time. If new damage or missing components are found, the user may receiving a fine to cover the cost of repair or replacement.
To help build a culture where we are all aware of our material resources and respectfully use the tools, and to prevent loss and misuse, follow these three simple expectations:
Obtain permission before moving or borrow supplies that are in use by others.
Return equipment to where it is stored after use.
Use equipment and tools only for their intended purpose.
