"It has been such a pleasure to work with Sophia Peifer this year. She has such a sweet, patient, and humble personality. She works hard in all her classes and is earnest to learn all that she can in her studies. Sophia has also become a valuable member of our community by participating and leading our Photography Club. I am so grateful to have the addition of Sophia to our school!"
Mrs. Jaime Russell
"Matthew is a delightful student. I look forward to his insights during our class time, especially in Bible and history. His creativity and imagination shine through his writing. Matthew keeps a busy schedule outside of school with his hockey academy, but he is always prepared with his schoolwork when we meet. Matthew has done incredibly well in all of his classes this semester, and I anticipate will have a very successful end to his 6th-grade year."
Mrs. Suzanne Holyde
"Mariah is a wonderful student with a bright attitude, awesome humor, and a heart of gold. She works so hard to do well in all her schoolwork while juggling lots of different things. She is the president of our Creative Writing Club and proves to be a creative soul through her written works. She is a true blessing to our school and community."
Mrs. Jamie Benedetto
“It has been my third year working with Isabella, and every year has been a joy. Organized, kind, respectful, and positive are all adjectives I would use to describe Isabella. She works hard at school with a desire for understanding, yet she also finds time for other activities and hobbies. Isabella is graduating this year, and I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate her as Student of the Month, as she has been such a consistent, positive influence in our school and for my life as well.”
Mr. Jacob van Wickle
"Noah Bendijo is my Student of the Month. Not only does Noah have a great attitude in our meetings each week, he is also very consistent with his work and time. Noah plans in advance to manage his time. For example, he worked diligently to get ahead in his classes so that he could enjoy a vacation with his family. He is zealous about his relationship with the Lord, too. Noah is a joy to work with."
Mrs. Nicole Paynter
"Richard is a dedicated worker. He puts quality study time in each week and asks questions that show he has put thought into his work. Richard is also involved in numerous clubs and activities and is an invaluable contributor to our school community. Some of the things that are uniquely wonderful about Richard are his sense of humor (see the jokes he has collected and contributed to the newsletter in the past), his growth this year as a poet, and his heart to walk with God. Congratulations Richard!"
Mrs. Katherine Fankhouser
"I chose Elizabeth (Beth) as the student of the month because she always completes everything as asked! Beth is a hard worker and always studies hard to understand every topic and corrects her work whenever she makes mistakes. She also always has straight A's!"
Mrs. Judith Landa
STUDENT SHOWCASE
"Hi! My name is Keona Lau and I've been playing piano since second or third grade. I first started with group music lessons for fun in kindergarten, but I didn't actually start taking piano lessons until then. Now that I'm in 12th grade, I've certainly improved my piano playing skills and I have gotten much better than I was before. I just started competing two years ago and had lots of fun--and of course, enjoyed aspects of winning awards :). Playing the piano is one of my favorite activities that I do because it allows me to get lost in the music. It's a great stress reliever and I really enjoy putting on different personas for the different emotions of each piece. Besides piano, I love to dance and participate in speech & debate. Hope you all enjoy these pieces!"
Keona Lau
"Hello! My name is Taylor Lee and I'm in 8th grade. Drawing is my favorite hobby and I love doing it! I love drawing and designing characters and their clothing. It is just fun for me and it helps me feel a little less stressed out. In the video above, you'll see a bunch of Christmas cards I drew for my family and friends. I know Christmas is long gone, but this is something I really wanted to share. I hope you enjoy!"

A MOMENT WITH A MISSIONARY
(Presented By Hannah Peifer)
The Ebersohns
The missionary family being featured this month is the Ebersohns. The Ebersohns, with CPA students Hendrik and Lukas, have been serving the Lord on the island of Puerto Rico. They have been doing this for many years, including being involved in the church and helping to train missionaries. However, their work changed in 2017 when a category 5 hurricane, Maria, hit the island. This caused them to shift gears and start focusing on rebuilding homes and providing food to those in need. They consider CPA as a blessing to their family. CPA gives the kids a safe environment where they can learn and grow closer to God. The family continues to work on construction and serving in the church. Please pray for their safety as some people do not approve of their ministry. Also, pray for the church in Puerto Rico and that God will provide the opportunity for them to start a pro-life ministry.

ART CLUB
"I wanted it to be an image of someone trying to get away from the darkness and horrors of reality, and trying to hang on to the goodness and truth of God."
Scarlett Turi
"I painted this picture with warm AND cool colors. I did this because our prompt in Art Club was "light and dark," highlighting the happy events with light and warm colors. The dark colors are to show shading or unhappy events. Hope you like my take on light and dark colors!"

PRAYER

(This section has been brought to you by William Miyazaki, Hannah Peifer, and Richard Kalangwa. )
“It's not always easy loving with action. It's actually the polar opposite. But, that's what Jesus calls us to do. And that's what Jesus showed us by His action. He showed us His love for us by literally refusing ‘all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.’ (Matthew 4:8) Love is a choice: To truly love someone is by backing it up with your actions. ~William Miyazaki
"When you love someone do you tell them you love them but then not do anything about it? No, when you love someone you show them you love them by doing something as simple as giving them a hug or as difficult as biting your tongue when they say something rude to you. But even though not snapping back at someone is difficult, the Lord can give us strength to do it. The greatest example of this is when Jesus was being crucified and everyone was mocking Him. He could have just yelled back at them and been angry and rude, yet he didn't say a word. 'He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers was silent, so he did not open his mouth.' (Isaiah 53:7) In this we need to follow His example and use our actions to show our love." ~ Hannah Peifer
