Since many students and parents have different views regarding what books are morally inapproriate, we are allowing everyone to choose their own book to read; it must be grade-level appropriate, be at least 150 pages, and be a fictional novel. Other than that, our only guidance on what book to read is to make a wise decision that coincides with parent and Christian values.
With that in mind, we are providing a list of suggested books to read. This list does not imply an official endorsement of these books; please do your own research regarding the moral appropriateness of any selection--check out review sites like Pluggedin and Common Sense Media for help.
Each title is clickable and will bring you to Common Sense Media, Plugged in Online, or Amazon. Every underlined title is hyperlinked. Remember, you can pick any book you want--it does not have to be from this list! You should also pick a book you have NOT read before. If you read one of these books for summer reading previously and the teacher realizes it, you will receive a zero.
