About Me
My family and I live in Grand Rapids. Mason, my husband, and I have been married for 9 years. We have a daughter, Finley, who is 3, and a son, Brooks, who is 7 months old. Our family is completed with our 4 year old golden retriever named Rex.
I grew up in Saginaw, MI.
My parents currently live in Bay City, MI, and my younger brother, Chris, lives in Nashville, TN.
My mom, aunt, and mother-in-law are all teachers, too!
What I teach are my passions; I love to travel and learn about history all over the state, country, and world, and I love expanding my book collection.
My high school basketball team won a state title during my senior year, in December 2006. We went undefeated! I also played soccer, volleyball, and ran track throughout my middle and high school years.
I backpacked Europe in 2013 and visited nine countries.
I love to visit my Uncle Dan's cottage on Lake Huron over the summer.
I like to shop. Too much.
Coffee and candy are the way to my heart.
My favorite things to watch are Top Chef and The Great British Baking Show, all things Star Wars, and anything that is spooky enough to scare me.
One of my hobbies is curating the best playlists I can on Spotify.
I have an uncanny memory for trivia, dates, song lyrics, and movie quotes. I consider it my super power.
Education Stats
This will be my 15th year teaching and my 12th year in Caledonia.
I received my B.S. in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University in 2012.
I am certified to teach English and history in grades 6-12.
I've taught both subjects in grades 6-11 at different points in my career.
I earned my M.A. in History from the University of Nebraska in 2019.
My major field of study was Early Europe, and my minor field of study was the Early 20th Century.
I love being a part of the Caledonia family and look forward to meeting the students, parents, and community members this year and in the years to come!
