Kara is currently in her fourteenth year as the director of the Caledonia High School Choirs. She directs six choral ensembles at CHS: a Tenor/Bass Ensemble, Treble Chorus, Advanced Treble Chorus, Bella Voce, Choralaires, and Chamber Singers. Kara is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, sending students to Solo and Ensemble Festivals, State and All-State Honors Choir, and Choral Festival, where the choirs consistently receive first division ratings. Under her direction, the Caledonia High School Choralaires were selected to perform at the Michigan Music Conference Choral Hour in 2023 and 2025. In 2024, Kara was honored to direct the MSVMA Region B Honors Choir. Kara also serves as the Artistic Director for the Chamber Choir of Grand Rapids.
Mark Ramsey is a life-long musician, accompanist, and composer from Hastings, Michigan. He has played for Hastings school choirs and musicals for 19 years, accompanying them at multiple District and State MSVMA events, several regional out-of-state festivals, and twice to Queens College/Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Mark has worked with other local schools and theater companies such as the Caledonia Community Players, the Grand Rapids Civic, and Thornapple Arts. He loves being here at CHS, working with such a thriving vocal program. "It is the best part of my day to work with Kara and the choirs!"
