During my 10+ years in the games industry, I have worked as a 2D creating User Interface design and creating illustrations, concept artwork and general texture and 2D artwork.
I was mainly responsible for the GUI Frontend, HUD (Heads Up Display), and UX (User Experience). These games were for the 5th Generation of Games console platforms such as the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, and also for mobile-based devices for Sony, Android and Apple devices in the form of social games.
In 2003 I joined a video games company and started working on video game titles - some budget and some AAA titles for publishers. The games were mostly racing or driving simulator games.
Big Mutha Truckers 2 was a sequel to the original game, a tongue and cheek big rig truck simulator.
The game's objective was to drive to make a profit and create mayhem on the roads by completing tasks, missions and goals to get your Ma out of prison.
You had four characters to choose from; each had their rig with special abilities.
The Menu Screen was illustrated and painted in Photoshop then all of the individual elements were animated in After Effects for Programmers to copy and reproduce the movements and transitions using the rendered video as a reference.
Other Screens created in the Frontend were the Interactive Map screen, Poker Mini-game, Character selection, and Controller configuration screens. All screens were storyboarded and animated to show how they transitioned and appeared.
In Game trading commodoties and items as well as the trading hubs were themed in a toon style fun graphic design appearance with vibrant colours and outline to help them stand out againts a CRT television the Xbox or PS2 was connected to.
Below is Heads Up Display (HUD) for Big Mutha Truckers 2.
The screenshots show the various collectables and fun animations when achieving a bonus. It also shows the typical items such as the speedo, bonus, mini-map and cash found in most arcade-style racing games.

This AAA title was produced in line with the film franchise and the 3rd instalment.
The game brought a drift culture that is prominent in the street racing scenes of Japan.
The game allowed you to race in the Touge and Wangan mountains, through the streets of Japan and drift in competitions.
You could customise your car with decals, paint and various performance upgrades.

Firefly runner was a startup game proof of concept - POC which was developed using Unity on iOS and Android.
The game was made with a heartwarming storyline of Switch, a firefly who has special powers. The fireflies have been captured by the evil Dr Mantis because of the powers they possess. Switch has to embark on an adventure armed with his slingshot and go out to rescue his friends.
Along the way Switch unlocks levels, collectables and achievements in themed levels.
Switch is the main character in the game.
He is drawn in a cute cartoonish way with extreme highlights. His tail lights up when he gets power, which he uses to energise his ammo for his slingshot. As he runs through the level, he picks up stones to put in his pouch.
If Switch gets injured, his helmet falls off, and he loses his armour if he wears any.
The character model was made to a very simple biped mesh that would work on an ARM-based device along with Switch's simple mesh unwrap texture sheet.
The colours are straightforward; the character was created with the Disney and Dreamworks character style, e.g. Antz or Bugs Life.
There are several 'Bad guys' in Firefly Adventures of Switch. The main one, which is Dr Mantis plays as an end-of-level guardian you have to defeat, along with other level bosses.
During gameplay, there are several enemies you have to shoot with your slingshot, such as Wasps, Slugs, Lumberjack Mantis, and spiders.
Some of these enemies require several hits to defeat unless you have a slingshot power-up, which 'instantly kills' the enemies.

The first level, Switch begins his adventure. He is in his home village. He sets off running through the forest that, progressively gets darker the deeper he goes into the woods. Each part of the island Switch lives has a unique environment and obstacles, along with enemies to defeat when he tries to find the keys to unlock the prison cages holding his family and friends.
There were 10 location levels in total in the game. Each level has a parallax effect simulating depth to the environment with movement.
The forest level is the beginning village level Switch runs through meadows, over rivers and streams with rocks, paths, lakes and caves.
The Treasure Island level leads Switch across beaches and little islands through brush and palm trees with caves and waterfalls.
