The best way to prepare for GCSE Psychology...
Research Methods: Remind yourself that 30% of your final grade will be Research Methods so make sure that you understand how to design an experiment, correlation, observation, self-report study etc. That you are able to write hypotheses, select a sample, write a procedure and predict findings. Can you justify all of the choices that you made?
Contextualising: when asked to use the skills of application/evaluation make sure you are contextualising your answers. ‘In your study’ or ‘In the scenario’, ‘Evaluate ____ key study’.
Support: Attend ALL Period 6 Sessions
Google Classroom: Ensure you are signed up to the Y10 and Y11 google classroom. This is where you have access to all lessons and revision resources Miss Bailey has created.
Key Revision Techniques
Blind Mind Mapping: Start with a piece of plain paper with the topic title in the middle (e.g. Criminal Psychology). With a black pen write down everything you can remember about that topic. After this, take a different coloured pen and using your knowledge organiser find the information you missed. Create a mind map based on the information that you couldn’t recall.
Practice papers: Locate these on the OCR website along with the markscheme. Start with short answer questions and once you build your confidence practise the extended writing questions.
Timed conditions: Using all of your notes complete the ‘perfect’ 13 mark essay. After doing this set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can remember and recall from your ‘perfect essay’.
Flashcards: do not feel you need to make your own, these have all been made for you!
