Ms. King-Farthing

About me

Hi there! I'm Ms. King-Farthing (she/her), and I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching you (or your student) this semester! I received my Bachelor's in English, Secondary Education from Appalachian State University in 2011, and I earned my Master's in English from UNCC in 2021. I've taught many different levels of English at West Caldwell High for eleven years, but I primarily teach English III, AP Language + Composition, and Creative Writing. 

My teaching philosophy has always centered on building relationships and understanding my students as individuals. One of my favorite pieces of my job is getting to know my students and translating that into helping them master the course material. As your teacher, you can expect me to help you go beyond the surface of the texts we read and understand how these materials both reflect and enrich us as humans. I hope to challenge and support your thinking as you begin to see how literature and other media shapes, defines, and confronts us. 

When I'm not thinking about literature and grammar, you can probably find me hanging out with my husband, running, baking, cooking, or enjoying live music. I have three terrible and wonderful cats as well.
