English II constitutes a survey of classic literary works of World Literature. The course will feature studying complex fictional and informational texts, developing analytical writing skills by practicing writing in a workshop-based format, and acquiring vocabulary and grammar skills. Students will learn to communicate effectively and think critically. Students will practice these skills by engaging in various learning opportunities including collaborative activities in class, writing tasks, and application of online learning platforms. Lessons will correlate with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for grades 9-10, including reading, writing, language, listening, and speaking standards. Assignments and projects are designed to equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in high school and prepare them for college and life.Â
