In order for students to graduate, they must meet the following criteria:
Credits: Caldwell High School requires the above 22 credits for graduation
Subject areas marked with an asterisk indicate areas that have waiver opportunities
Competency: Students can meet competency through…
State testing: earn a 684 on BOTH the Algebra 1 and English 2 exams
Career Readiness (must meet two, one of which must be foundational):
Foundational Options:
Cumulative proficient score on 3 or more WebXams
Earn a 12 pt industry recognized credential
Complete a pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, or show evidence of acceptance in an apprenticeship program
Earn a state issued license for practice in a vocation
Supporting Options:
250 WorkBased Learning hours
Earn a workforce readiness score on the WorkKeys (14+)
Earn the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal
College Credit Plus: must earn credit in a non-remedial math or English course for the state tested subject not passed
Military Enlistment
ACT/SAT: earn a remediation free score in math and/or English subjects on the ACT/SAT (22 for math, 18 for English, 22 for Reading on the ACT, 480 for reading and writing, 530 for math on the SAT)
*** To utilize options 2-5, students must attempt the end of course exams in Algebra I and English 2 at least twice
3. Graduation Seals: Students must earn two graduation seals (one of which must be Ohio defined) from the following list:
Ohio Seals
Ohio Means Jobs: Complete paperwork
Industry Recognized Credential: Earn 12 credential points
College Ready Seal: earn a non remedial score on the SAT or ACT in English and math (see scores above)
Military Enlistment: Provide evidence of military enlistment
Citizenship: Earn a 3 or higher on the American History AND American Government end of course exams, earn a B in both American History and American Government, earn AP scores of 2 or higher on the AP US History and AP US Government exams, earn a B or higher in a CCP course in either American History or American Government
Science: Earn a 3 or higher on the biology end of course exam, earn an AP score of 2 or higher on the AP Biology exam, earn a B or higher in a biology CCP course or an advanced science course
Honors Diploma: Earn an honors diploma
Seal of Biliteracy: demonstrate proficiency in English and one other language based on standards by the Ohio DEW
Technology seal: earn an AP or IB diploma in technology, earn a B or higher in a CCP technology course, or complete a high school technology course and other requirements set by the Ohio DEW
Local Seals
Community Service: complete 120 hours of community service from 9th-12th grades
Student Engagement: complete 4 years of participation in an extracurricular activity or local internship (proof of participation may be requested for off campus programs)
Fine Arts: Complete 4 years in band, choir, the CHS art program, or an off campus performing arts (including dance) program (proof of participation may be requested for off campus programs)
