Student Achievements
Caldwell students Anish Pandey and Dikshya Giri Giri for claiming the top prize for security and privacy at HackNYU! With the support of Dr. Steve Kreutzer, Dean of the School of Business and Computer Science, and Dr. Vlad Veksler, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, the team beat out 652 participants, making it the largest student-led Hackathon at NYU Tandon School of Engineering in partnership with Google. Congratulations on another impressive win!
HackPrinceton had 450 participants this year. Caldwell University senior Khagendra Khatri led his team to win 3 different prizes and 1st overall prize for their project CrystalMath: an AI-powered platform that brings math to life with dynamic video animations and voice-over explanations. By leveraging advanced AI models and seamless integrations, CrystalMath offers engaging, step-by-step solutions that transform how users learn, teach, and explore mathematics (https://dorahacks.io/buidl/19465).

Transforming industrial tasks into a remote game with a simple apple-catching game, guiding a virtual hand precisely mirroring their movements that performs the actual task of picking up and placing items in real time which in turn, converts repetitive tasks into an interactive, game-driven process.
Khagendra Khatri, Suman Sah project presented at HackRU: ODG-Vision: Empowering the visually impaired with real-time object detection, facial recognition, and voice guidance for confident, independent navigation. 1st place in the Failure to Launch category.

This award is named in honor of Bryan J. Norton, a recent graduate of the SoBCS Sport Management program, and recognizes a student who best demonstrates dedicated effort, commitment, and professionalism in performing in a sports industry internship. Bryan, who passed away in July 2022 after having earned a degree in sport management in 2020, achieved early success in his career and is fondly remembered by faculty and students as a wonderful friend and peer who was motivated to succeed in his studies and his career. The Bryan J. Norton Memorial Scholarship supports sport management students who demonstrate commitment and integrity in their studies. The 2023 Strategic Leadership in the Sport Industry class assisted in a New Jersey power soccer clinic event in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Power soccer is a sport played by people with physical disabilities who use power wheelchairs. Students participated in experiential learning by organizing and promoting the power soccer event, with students working together to ensure the event was a success.
The students selected this service project after being inspired by their classmate Patrick Falco who attends class in a power chair and who himself was a former power soccer player.
